Tax Planning

Year-round, proactive strategy so your tax bill is a decision you made in advance, not a number you find out about in April.

Preparation reports history. Planning changes it. We meet with clients through the year to project income, model the options and put strategies in place while there is still time for them to work.

What this includes

Mid-year & Q4 projections

Know your number in September, not in April, and act on it.

Entity & compensation structuring

Salary vs. distribution, accountable plans, and owner benefit strategies.

Retirement plan strategy

SEP, SIMPLE, solo 401(k) and defined benefit options matched to your cash flow.

Depreciation & asset timing

Section 179, bonus depreciation and purchase timing to land the deduction where it is worth most.

Quarterly estimates

Safe-harbor calculations that avoid underpayment penalties without over-lending to the IRS.

Life-event planning

Selling a business, buying property, exercising options, an inheritance: modeled before you sign.

Common questions

When is the best time to start planning?+

Before December 31. Most meaningful strategies have to be in place before the year closes, and the best ones need a few months to execute.

Is planning included with tax preparation?+

A basic review is. Ongoing quarterly planning is a separate engagement, and for most business owners it pays for itself several times over.
